If you have relevant skills and experience and are residing in Canada as temporary workers or international graduates, you can get permanent status in Canada. This pathway prioritizes temporary workers in hospitals, long-term care providers, and international graduates who can boost Canada’s economy in the future. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada has announced 4 special public policies, introducing these new pathways to Canadian permanent residence. These are:
This category includes foreign workers with experience in managerial, professional, or technical jobs. This category uses a 100-point grid to determine eligibility. You will need 67 points to pass this gridding system.
This program for Express Entry is applicable for a wide variety of industries, such as chefs, industrial, electrical, and construction trades. For this category, you need at least 2 years of working experience in the specific industry or trade within the last 5 years before you apply for the visa.
This class asks for Canadian experience in managerial, professional, or technical jobs but it doesn’t use a point gridding system. You need at least 1 year of Canadian experience within the last 3 years before you apply for the visa.
Before you apply for TR to PR Pathway program, make sure you have the following documents, such as completed application forms, civil status documents, copy of education credential of Canadian education, proof of language proficiency, work reference letters, passport copy, copies of all Canadian immigration permits, police clearances, and medical examination results.
All applications must be filed electronically. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada has released a new application portal specifically designed to process applications submitted under one of the TR to PR immigration programs. Once a TR to PR pathway application is complete, you must pay the required fees.

To qualify for an open work permit, candidates must have already successfully applied for permanent residence under the TR to PR pathway. They must also meet the following conditions at the time of applying including a valid work authorization in Canada, a work permit that is set to expire within four months, they are currently residing in Canada, and they hold temporary resident status and continue to meet the language requirements for the TR to PR pathway stream.
Usually, the processing time for TR to PR Pathway ranges between 4-5 weeks, however, it is uncertain to say that because of the pandemic conditions prevailing all over the world.
The Permanent Resident Card is valid for 5 years. You must renew it within 6 months before the expiration of the PR card. Some Canadian Permanent Resident cards are valid for a year.
